Are lip fillers safe?

Lip fillers are constantly in the spotlight with them being portrayed with different views. Some have had bad experiences and showcase the downsides to them but when they are done properly and with a professional, the results are great. With that being said, ensuring that you go to a safe and well-known physician for the procedure will get you the result you want.

Are lip fillers permanent?

Lip fillers are not permanent and classed as temporary as the hyaluronic acid in the lip fillers eventually break and disintegrate. Typically, they hold out for six months (although all results differ) after which you may require a maintenance appointment to provide a ‘top up’ to your results.

In addition to the topic of time, think of having lip fillers as a buildable investment as you may not reach your final result after one treatment hence the need to revisit to complete your image goal.

The option of permanent fillers are not recommended as this type uses materials such as silicon which can produce unpredictable results and can prove severely problematic in the long run as this procedure also cannot be modified in any way once the treatment has been done.  Temporary hyaluronic acid lip fillers, which we at Skin Doctor Clinics use, are in fact the far safer option.

Is the procedure painful?

You will be required to have the area around your lips numb with a topical numbing cream. You will feel a small sensation once the injection takes place and shortly after a throbbing sensation once the filler is injected. The doctor will ice your lips after the short procedure and you can then go about your day as normal.

What are the side effects of lip fillers?

The procedure is generally classed, as a quick procedure however there are possible side effects to look out for such as minor swelling, bruising at the injection sites and possible redness. If you’re worried about your results, contact your practitioner for aftercare support.

Who performs the treatment?

A physician does lip filler procedures and it is essential to see if they are board certified and have high experience within the industry.

With Skin Doctor Clinics all our practitioners are experienced and are committed to providing you with the upmost quality so you can have the peace of mind that you are in safe hands.
